Adam Hoyle - Ceramics & Ceramic Lamps

Adam says:

"Adam has been working with clay on and off since he was a young child. He nearly specialised in ceramics while on a foundation course at Wimbledon College of Arts but was so fascinated by the potential of the nascent internet that he embarked on a career as a computer programmer and technology consultant, winning many awards along the way.

He has recently returned his attention to ceramics and has been combining his technology experience and love of clay into a series of reactive touch-sensitive lamps. He enjoys experimenting with different firing techniques for the lamps including Raku, Obvara and Saggar firings.

Adam has always enjoyed throwing on the wheel and is now producing a range of “ventilated” bowls, each of which are individually and uniquely patterned with rows of holes. He uses the principles of algorithms, or rule based systems, derived from his work with technology, to influence the layout of the holes."

We say:

We love looking at Adam's Coral lamp with its changing colours and patterns - it's a bit distracting when there's work to be done in the studio so we'll be secretly pleased when it finds a new home!
