Stained Glass Class -
Leading Level 2
Develop your glass cutting and leading skills in one day!

"Another great course and new skills learned" - Sarah

Suitable for: those who've done leaded stained glass at beginners level

This intermediate level class will build your skills in traditional leaded stained glass and you'll leave with a finished panel to show of your capabilities.
If you'd like to tackle a more complex leading project but don't feel ready to work on your own, this class is for you!

This class focuses on making more complex pieces than the ones made on our beginner's classes. The designs on offer will challenge you to cut tricky glass shapes accurately and to boost your skills at manipulating and cutting leads.

With a maximum of 4 students on the workshop and two tutors you can be sure of plenty of attention and guidance throughout the class.

One-day leading level 2 stained glass workshop - limited to 4 people

After a short health & safety discussion, we'll start by refreshing your glass cutting skills.
We'll give you some cutting exercises to test your ability to cut tricky shapes accurately.
Once comfortable with glass cutting, we'll review the level 2 designs you'll choose to work with, paying attention to particular challenges in the cutting and leading stages.

You'll have most of the day to make your piece, with guidance and encouragement at every stage. You'll take home your cemented piece, ready to be cleaned a few days after the class.

Making a leaded stained glass panel - stretch yourself!

This workshop offers a number of further challenges compared with our original beginners leading class. You'll learn about cutting accurate glass shapes with tips to aid precision grinding (to ensure your pieces all fit properly).

You'll also have plenty of opportunity to improve your lead-shaping and cutting - essential for a strong panel and good aesthetics. If you plan to make your own windows this class is especially recommended!
We'll also work on soldering - aiming to achieve good mechanical joints and a neat appearance.
During the class we'll share tips on how to buy, store and handle lead and glass to avoid wastage when you work on your own projects.

The 1-day course cost includes:

  • All materials, choice of level 2 designs and wide range of coloured glass
  • Use of tools and protective gear
  • Refreshments during the day and lunch at the ARTea Rooms
  • 2 tutors, maximum class size 4 people
  • Follow-on support if you want to continue to work in glass
  • Eligibiity for our project days programme
  • Your piece to take home and enjoy!
