Stained Glass Upcycling for Beginners
Crafty Afternoon @ Vitreus Art
Learn to assemble left-over pieces of glass in to a unique suncatcher - suitable for beginners!

"I enjoyed the course very much! Really want to come back and learn more. " - Cynthia

Crafty Afternoon is a series of afternoon play-dates run at Vitreus Art on special occasions, with half of the proceeds going to charity.
Coming up - Stained Glass Upcycling For Beginners.

On this workshop you'll learn how to join together left-over pieces of coloured glass using the Foiing technique to make an abstract (possibly very abstract!) suncatcher you can take home home and hang in a window.

There's no glass cutting involved - you'll choose pieces of glass left over from our stained glass workshops and discover how to join them together using copper foil and solder.

Crafty Afternoon Stained Glass Upcycling workshop for up to 6 people

The class begins with introductions, tea or coffee and a discussion of the materials and processes you'll use on the workshop.

You'lll then choose a number of pieces of coloured and clear glass to make your suncatcher from and begin preparing them for foiling, using a grinder to make the edges smooth.
Once foiled, your pieces of glass will be joined together, using solder and a high-power soldering iron.

We'll then add a few extra pieces of glass on top - to strengthen your piece and give extra interest.
Adding a small wire loop and fishing line and you have a one-off suncatcher to enjoy at home!

The Crafty Afternoon workshop cost of £14 includes: ( £7 per place goes to charity)

  • Glass offcuts and all other materials required
  • Use of all tools, apron, goggles and protective gloves
  • Refreshments during the class
  • Maximum class size 7 people
