Glass Fusing Garden Fish Shoal or Birds - half-day workshop

"Very friendly, great tuition, and fantastic end result " - Tim

Make a shoal of funky fused glass fish or a small flock of cute glass birds for your garden (or a plant pot) on this fun half-day workshop

On this workshop you'll create several fused glass fish or birds ready to display on the copper rods we supply, like the shoals we sell in the gallery. You'll have the option to make more birds fish for a larger display at a reduced cost after the class.

You'll also gain an insight in to some of the basics of glass fusing - a gentle introduction to a craft many of our students have gone on to enjoy developing in their own home.

You'll learn how to cut the basic shapes in glass, which you'll then decorate before firing in the kiln.

Each garden sculpture piece is made up of two layers of clear glass; you'll decorate the lower layer with glass frits (crushed coloured glass) and can also decorate the top later with enamel pens for addition detail if you choose. The copper rod used to susppend your pieces will be added after we fire them.

After firing we'll prepare the rods for you to display your sculptures and let you know they're ready to collect!
Your fish or birds will stand between 65 and 85cm tall once 'planted'.

This is a fun and accessible mini workshop - suitable for beginners.

The course cost of £85 inc VAT per person includes:

  • Enough clear glass to cut the shapes for three pieces - a mix of birds and fish as you choose
  • Coloured glass frits and enamel pens
  • Copper rods to display your fish or birds
  • Use of all tools and apron
  • Refreshments during the workshop
  • Maximum class size 6 people for individual attention
  • Firing in the kiln
  • All your work to keep after firing
  • Option to make more pieces on future sessions at reduced cost
  • Morning Session runs from 10.30 to 13.30
  • Afternoon session runs from 14.00 to 17.00 (approx)
  • Classes run at our Northants studio near Towcester
