This is a special one-day taster workshop intended to give you a feel for the copper foiling method of stained glass; if you enjoy this class we suggest you consider a full one-day workshop to gain deeper skills and make a more challenging piece.
The proceeds from the sale of each place on this workshop will go to the Red Cross Disasters Emergency Committee fund for Ukraine. The breakdown is:
Workshop cost £79 per place
VAT £13.17 goes to HMRC
Balance of £65.83 goes to the Red Cross DEC fund within 3 days of booking
One-day copper foiling stained glass beginners class for up to 5 people - Sunflower
We start out by learning some basic glass cutting techniques using the same tools we use ourselves.You'll then cut the coloured glass for your sunflower and move on to grinding the edges smooth. Once ready, you'll apply the coppper foil, and solder the petals and centre together.
We'll add a hanging loop and fishing line for you and your sunflower is ready to be enjoyed at home. All the proceeds minus the VAT will go to the Red Cross Ukraine fund to help those caught up in the humanitarian disaster unfolding in their country.
At each stage we'll show you the tools, materials and skills you'll need to complete your sunflower project.
Scoring and breaking glass, using oil-cutter, grozing pliers and cut runner
Preparing the glass for soldering using the grinder, copper foil and crimping tool
Soldering using a high-power soldering iron and fluxes
Adding loop made from copper wire
The course cost of £79 inc VAT per person includes:

Refreshments during the workshop - please bring your own lunch to keep the cost down
Maximum class size 5 people

Class runs from 10am to (approx) 5-30pm at our Northants studio near Towcester

We pride ourselves on creating a fun, stimulating and supportive environment for you to enjoy discovering new skills.
Our one day classes are suitable for anyone over 18, although we do advise that anyone with a medical condition that limits their hand strength or control, or their ability to stand for periods of time contact us before booking to discuss.
Due to the use of lead this workshop is not suitable for expectant mothers.
With a maximum of 5 students you can be sure of plenty of attention and guidance throughout the class.
