This exciting weekly course is for anyone who is interested in developing their creative skills. Often people want to paint or draw but just don’t know where to start!
This course will provide the opportunity to learn the basics of painting and drawing in a practical, friendly and supportive atmosphere.
- No previous experience is necessary just a willingness to have a go!
- Step by step demonstrations

- Absolute beginners are recommended to to join Clare's Introduction class before joining ths course
Weekly topics and skills covered in the ongoing classes
- Sketching techniques
- Mixed media drawing
- Colour mixing, brush control
- Acrylics and Watercolour - introducing different techniques
- Work will be inspired by still life arrangements, photographs and the work of other artists.
- Observation and composition
Most paints will be provided but you will need to bring the following:
- An A3 sketch book to keep all your work together
- A basic pencil case with sketching pencils and rubber
- A set of basic acrylic paints
- An old top as some weeks we may get messy (although aprons are provided)
- An old rag/kitchen roll for keeping brushes clean
- A Stay-Wet pallette like this one or there are plenty of homemade versions on the internet using an airtight container.
- Alternatively a disposable palette like this one
- Brushes suitable for acrylic and watercolour – System 3 Acrylic 500 Longhandle Brush Set 5 Pack
- This set will be suitable for a beginner to use for watercolours and acrylics. As you get more experienced you may wish to get a separate watercolour brush set.

Drawing and Painting takes place at our Northants studio just outside Towcester . The course is structured as a 4 / 5 / 6-week term and bookings are for all sessions, on the dates below.

About Clare Tebboth
Clare works predominantly in oils, her loose style making use of both brushes and palette knives. She enjoys the richness of oil paint and the luxurious finish it gives to paintings.
Having grown up in Norfolk and enjoying frequent childhood trips to windswept beaches, her work is often based around the sea and the special mood that a wintry beach creates..
Clare has 19 years experience in the classroom teaching and has developed a reputation for fun and stimulating adult art workshops. Clare welcomes commissions and enjoys working with clients to create unique pieces of artwork.
She is a Member of the Society of All Artists and Chair of Buckingham Art for All.
