Slumped Glass Fusing - creating curved glass forms with texture, for those with some glass fusing experience. Not suitable for complete beginners.
On this workshop you'll learn how to create beautiful, textured fused glass art, combining clear and coloured glass sheets, glass frit, crushed glass, enamel pens and stringers to make a fantastic bowl approx 30cm across.
You can choose to make a fused glass round or square bowl up to 30cm in size using base sheets of clear fusible glass as your starting point.
If you've enjoyed learning the basics of glass fusing on one of our other fusing classes, this is a fascinating next step for your new fused glass hobby!
Slumping involves adding form to fused glass after its initial firing. You'll create the flat forms for your projects first, and after the first contour firing these will be 'slump-fired' in to the mould.
Once cooled your pieces will be ready for collection!
This class will equip you to create your own further slumped fused glass designs, and teach you more sophisticated fused glass construction techniques. We include a discussion on the firing schedules required for these two different processes for those interested in the more technical aspects.
After some design sketching (we can help with this if you haven't done it before), we'll review all of the materials available for you to use - including coloured fusible glass, frits, stringers, globs and enamel pens.
You'll learn how to cut pieces of coloured glass if needed too.
You'll then construct your bowl as a flat piece of art; after the first contour firing we'll then fire your piece a second time in to a mould.
The skills you've learned on one of our beginner's fusing classes will come in handy here.
This class is suitable for anyone who's done some fusing before; if you haven't yet tried glass fusing we suggest attending one of these fusing workshops:

- Introduction to Fusing (aka Fusion-Inclusion) 1 day

The course cost of £169 inc VAT per person includes:
- Fusible glass sheets for the basis of your projects
- Clear and coloured fusible glass frit, enamel pens and stringers to make your project
- Use of all tools and apron
- Refreshments during the session including herbal teas, decaffeinated drinks & gluten-free biscuits and lunch from the nearby Bell cafe
- Maximum class size 6 people for individual attention
- Both kiln firings and info sheet on the processes used
- All your work to keep, after all firings are complete
- Eligibility for our Project Days Programme
- Class runs from 10-30am to 5pm (approx) at our Northants studio near Towcester
