Glass Fusing Weekend Course -
Turning Up The Heat
-
"Very well thought out and very Covid friendly!" - Carol
Our 'Turning Up the Heat' course is a great way to develop your fusing skills with time to make several projects within a structure created for anyone who's done some basic fusing already.
The course
will boost your essential technical skills and expand your understanding of the materials used in fusing. You'll also learn about kiln operation and firing schedules.
With a maximum of 4 students you can be sure of plenty of attention and guidance throughout the class.
2 days - Glass Fusing weekend course for up to 4 people
The course structure is divided into several sessions, each covering key techniques.
Session 1 - Learn how to cut glass accurately, including cutting opaque fusible glass - a valuable skill for fusers advancing beyond using just frits and powders
Session 2 - Looking at design of fusing projects, covering which materials can be used where in a design, and how placement of your fusible materials affects the end result.
Session 3 - Create three projects:
- Create a piece to be slumped using the tack fusing technique
- Create a piece to be draped using the tack fusing technique
- Create a piece using solid sections of glass, sitting next to each other
Day Two:
Session 4 - Overview of Kilns, moulds, and how to prepare each
Session 5 - Creating card stencils for a screen-printed fused project and then making your screen-printed design using fusible glass powders
