Beginners Stained Glass Class - Freestanding Garden Panels
Make your own garden glass art in just one day!

"Today we cleaned our beautiful artworks and they have been given pride of place in the garden - in today's sunshine they looked particularly impressive!  I still can't quite believe that such lovely items can be produced in such a short timeframe." - Julia

Our one-day introduction to this modern method of combining leaded stained glass with zinc construction will give you a grounding in the essential techniques, plenty of hands-on experience with the pro-grade tools we use, and you'll take your garden panel home at the end of the day!

We call this class our 'Freestanding Garden Panel' class - you'll make a weatherproof stained glass panel around 80cm tall that you can show off in your garden, or display indoors! This class is suitable for complete beginners!

One-day beginners freestanding garden stained glass class for up to 6 people

We'll introduce you to all the key techniques and tools used in this modern method of constructing glass art using zinc and lead. This alternative way to creating stained glass results in a panel that will support itself, needing no frame.

We start out by demonstrating how we score and break glass.
You'll then practice cutting glass to a design until you're ready to start cutting the coloured glass for your main project. This will take us up to lunchtime, and a break for some fresh air!

In the afternoon, you'll work on your project piece which you'll finish in time to take home!

We'll demonstrate the skills and tools required for each stage and point out common difficulties. You'll then build your panel with the coloured glass you've just cut.

The course cost of £165 inc VAT includes:

  • All materials, choice of starter designs and glass
  • Use of tools and protective gear
  • Refreshments during the session including herbal teas, decaffeinated drinks & gluten-free biscuits and lunch from the nearby Bell Cafe
  • Maximum class size 7 people
  • Info pack to keep with information on getting started and where to buy glass and tools, emailed as PDF
  • Your piece to take home
  • Eligibility for our Project Days Programme
  • Class runs from 10am to (approx) 6-30pm at our Northants studio near Towcester
