Glass Fusing Slumping - Bowl, Trinket Dishes, Curved Art
One day workshops with Jenny Timms & Mike Caddy

"A fantastic experience.Jenny & Mike really know their stuff and were so patient ." - Sharon

Slumped Glass Fusing Tack-Fusing - creating curved glass forms with texture, for beginners and those with some glass fusing experience.

On this workshop you'll learn how to create beautiful, textured fused glass art, combining glass sheets, glass frit, crushed glass, enamel pens and stringers.

You can choose to make a fused glass round or square bowl up to 30cm in size plus two trinket dishes or two curved freestanding art curves the S-shaped pieces shown, or a combination of several 14cm square trinket dishes and curved glass forms - using two sheets of fusible glass as your starting point.

If you've enjoyed learning the basics of glass fusing on one of our other fusing classes, this is a fascinating next step for your new fused glass hobby!

Slumping involves adding form to fused glass after its initial firing. You'll create the flat forms for your projects first, and after the first tack firing these will be 'slump-fired' in to the mould.
Once cooled your pieces will be ready for collection!

This class will equip you to create your own further slumped fused glass designs, and teach you more sophisticated fused glass construction techniques. We include a discussion on the firing schedules required for these two different processes for those interested in the more technical aspects.

We'll ask you to do some research for design ideas so you'll get maximum benefit from your time with us. We'll provide guidance on this, if needed.

The starting point for projects on this class is a base layer of COE 90 clear fusible glass, 30x30cm; you can create more than one smaller projects using your two sheets if you prefer.
You'll place frit and other materials, use enamel pens and build up your pieces, ready for the first firing.
The skills you've learned on our beginner's fusing class will come in handy here, although this workshop is perfect for beginners too!

The course cost of £159 inc VAT per person includes:

  • Fusible glass sheets for the basis of your projects
  • Clear and coloured fusible glass frit, enamel pens and stringers to make your project
  • Use of all tools and apron
  • Light lunch & refreshments during the day
  • Maximum class size 5 people for individual attention
  • Both kiln firings and info sheet on the processes used
  • All your work to keep, after all firings are complete
  • Eligibility for our Project Days Programme
  • Class runs from 10-30am to 5pm (approx) at our Northants studio near Towcester
