One-day leading beginners stained glass class for up to 5 people
As with our one-day foiling beginners class, we'll introduce you to all the key techniques and tools used in the traditiional method of constructing stained glass - using lead cames.
As this class demands more strength in hands and wrists, we recommend the foiling beginners class to those with limited strength or control.
We start out by demonstrating how we score and break glass, and explain the process of constructing a panel using the leading method. At each stage we'll discuss the tools and techniques being used and point out common difficulties.
First you'll practise scoring and breaking glass.
Then you'll move on to grinding the cut glass ready for assembly.
We'll then guide you in building up the panel, cutting and shaping the lead came sections on a purpose-made layout board.
At temperatures up to 370 Deg.C you'll solder your piece together.
This will take us up to lunchtime, and a break for some fresh air!
In the afternoon, you'll work on a project piece which you'll finish in time to take home!
We'll provide you with a choice of designs (similar to ones we sell for £75) and a wide selection of coloured glass to work with.
The course cost includes:
- All materials, choice of starter designs and glass
