Technical Skills Workshop - Soldering Masterclass
Improve your soldering, add new skills, achieve a better finish for your copper-foiled stained glass

This workshop is for those who've done some copper-foiled stained glass already and wish to improve the appearance of their work though neater soldering.
The workshop incudes practical exercises as well as some theory to help you understand what's happening when you solder your pieces.

Half-day copper foiling Stained glass Soldering Masterclass class for up to 4 people

The course covers:

• Soldering Irons, solder, fluxes and which to use, when
• The types of soldering styles used in copper foil - beads and edges
• Cleaning and caring for your soldering iron, including tinning the tip
• Types of patina and how to achieve a smooth finish

We'll start with demonstrations of the essential techniques, and looking at how to deal with problem areas.
You'll work on pre-foiled exercises, with feedback on progress throughout.

We'll share some of our secrets, and encourage you to put these techniques in to practice on your own work at home.
Towards the end of the workshop you'll experiment with patinas, learning about preparation and application, and cleaning for the best end result.

The course cost of £80 inc VAT per person includes:

• All materials, pre-cut and foiled exercises
• Use of tools and protective gear
• Refreshments during the workshop
• Maximum class size 4 people
• Info pack to keep with reminders on techniques and tools - emailed as PDF
• Eligibility for our Project Day Programme
• Class runs from 2.30pm to 5pm at our Northants studio
• Usually takes place on the same day as our Glass Cutting Masterclass

We pride ourselves on creating a fun, stimulating and supportive environment for you to enjoy discovering new skills. Our one day classes are suitable for anyone over 18, although we do advise that anyone with a medical condition that limits their hand strength or control contact us before booking to discuss.
With a maximum of 4 students you can be sure of plenty of attention and guidance throughout the class. And remember - everything you make, you take home!
